The Amish live a simple life style in accordance to their religious beliefs. They have made crafting heirloom quality furniture their specialty for generations.

THE SHOP is an Amish owned and operated business. Woodworking is a part of the Yoder family history. With more than 30 years of experience Roy has applied his knowledge and skills to developing and creating a quality line of furniture, THE BLUE PINE COLLECTION.

No piece of furniture is ever identical because of the care taken to select the wood. Windfall Ponderosa blue pine trees are collected from the surrounding forest and are sawn on site. Lumber from these logs are either naturally or kiln dried to a moisture content of 8% -10%. A second milling is done to ensure the quality of the lumber. Each piece of lumber is carefully selected for color, knots and character. Amish furniture is known to be made of 100% wood, no particleboard or laminate is used in THE BLUE PINE COLLECTION. Our one piece tops set our furniture apart from the competition with knots and natural edge incorporated.

Each handcrafted piece of furniture has a one piece top which vary in thickness from 1 1/2" - 2" depending on drying and milling procedures. Frames for the dressers are made from 1" solid wood which makes them strong and durable. Drawer boxes are dove tailed at the joints with the same one piece blue pine material. All drawers are equipped with full extension slides having 100 pound capacity. The drawer pulls are hand selected limbs cut at an angle giving each piece of furniture its own unique character. Drawer fronts are cut from the same board for a continuous flow of color and grain. The one piece end panels are finished before assembly and installed in a unique way which allows them to "float". Because they are not bonded and are pre-finished they will not check or crack from expansion or contraction.

All furniture is carefully hand sanded and finished by skilled hands. Checks and cracks that occur during the drying and milling process are painstakingly filled and sanded to prevent snagging of fine clothing. Three coats of lacquer are applied to each piece and hand sanding is done to achieve the desired look and feel. This attention to detail makes each piece of furniture from THE BLUE PINE COLLECTION heirloom quality that will be enjoyed for many generations.
